The Team

Firelight Productions principal partners Marcus Gillezeau and Ellenor Cox established their working relationship in 1995. Since then they have produced and directed more than 50 productions together ranging from cutting edge documentaries and high end music clips, to innovative youth based webcasts and extraordinary events management.

Our Mission

Firelight’s motto is to be visionary, grand and high energy. Equally capable of flying solo as digital guerrilla documentary makers or gathering together teams of exceptionally talented creatives and crew, Firelight is responsible for projects as diverse as ‘The Great Inflatable Film Festival’ to behind the scenes documentation for ‘Fashion Week’ and ‘Opera Australia’.

Our Credits

On the big crew, big production scale, Firelight have produced Midnight Oil’s last four clips plus EPK and TVC campaigns as well as several blue chip documentaries including the award winning ABC TV series ‘Afrika Cape Town to Cairo’, 'Dreamtime to Dance' (ABCTV 4 X 1/2 hr), 'Breaking Bows and Arrows' (SBSTV 1hr), ‘Little Dove Big Voyage’ and more recently 'Cave in the Snow' and 'Painting with Light in a Dark World'

Firelight is adept with a variety of broadcast genres. Their most recent short film ‘The Cross’ screened at the St Kilda Film Festival, whilst their most recent documentary ‘Little Dove Big Voyage’ rated 28% nationally and the website receives on average 200 hits per day.

The Digital Frontiers

Firelight has a track record over the past six years of continuously being at the forefront of digital convergence technology. In 1996 they post produced and delivered to the ABC ‘Sleeping with Cambodia’ which was the first longform documentary that had been entirely digitally post produced. The following year Marcus was commissioned by the AFC to write the manual ‘Hands On - New Technology in Documentary Making’ which is still being used as standard film course material by AFTRS, UTS and UNSW. In 1999 they produced and co-wrote the award winning ABC series ‘Afrika - Cape Town to Cairo’, one of the pioneer long form films involving a solo filmmaker (Michael Davie) using Digital technology.

Firelight Creates a 16thC. TV Station

More recently they created the first digitally convergent documentary ‘Little Dove Big Voyage’ and the website www.littledove.org which contains over 30 MicroMovies which were shot, FCP’d and uploaded to the site from a ship in the middle of the ocean in Indonesia. Late last year they toured Australia with the pop band ‘Girlthing’ delivering for the fans 3 x 1 minute FCP MicroMovies to the web on a daily basis.

Beyond the TV

Both Marcus and Ellenor have spoken extensively on industry panels about Digital technology and Marcus has been facilitating courses on the specifics of Digital shooting and FCP editing for the past three years. Prior to Andre joining Firelight he worked for Limelight Media managing several large multi-platform delivery projects. Firelight’s offices in Paddington provides a perfect base for any sized project and is equipped with full desktop editing and a DV Cam Production kit. The team is capable of freelancing independently or producing projects inhouse. Firelight has an uncompromising attitude towards quality and innovation are keen to surpass your expectations when we work together!
